Decoration Day also know today as Memorial Day. The holiday, which is observed every year on the laxt Monday in the month of May.
Memorial Day is a day when we honor all the men and women who have fought for the freedom to pray in public. We pray in churches to locker rooms. Our Armed Forces have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this freedom. Everyone has taken for granted.
The true origin of Memorial Day comes from Pennsylvania. Some say its debatable. I come from Pennsylvania, and I can tell you we take all patriotic holidays to heart. But, every true God loving American honors our military. Approximately 620,000 men and women had died during the American Civil War in 1868.
How To Observe Memorial Day
Here are three Bible verses to meditate on during this important time of remembering the fallen: John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Psalm 116:15 – “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants.” John 11:25-26 > “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and, whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
